The Species on the Move Webinar Series

In 2019, the Lenfest Ocean Program hosted its first Ideas Lab to Identify Research Priorities for Shifting Marine Species. At this three-day intensive workshop, we convened scientists, managers, stakeholders, and funders for a collaborative discussion about the future of fisheries in the face of climate change. What Emerged from the Ideas Lab?

Four new research projects that the Lenfest Ocean Program is now funding, with each addressing an important aspect of enhancing climate resilient fisheries, including:

• Improving the accuracy of data inputs and models that inform fisheries decisions;
• Analyzing the effectiveness of potential adaptation strategies, such as allocation policies; and
• Understanding how changes in the environment impact fished species throughout their lives.

All of this research launched in late 2020 and the first half of 2021. We hosted a “Species on the Move” webinar series to feature each project, including their management context and need, goals, and research approach.
