We held a two-part webinar series on advancing Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management (EBFM) in the U.S., focusing on how portfolio theory can enhance fisheries management. The discussions addressed the limitations of traditional approaches that target single species and emphasized the importance of considering species interactions and environmental dynamics. Led by Dr. Steve Cadrin from the University of Massachusetts and Dr. Jason Link from NOAA, the research team explored various portfolio options and their practical applications under existing legal frameworks. Participants learned how showcasing these approaches could bridge the gap between theory and practice, supported by an advisory committee of fisheries experts from NOAA.
