On Thursday, April 11, our grantees presented updates on research informing the development of a Fishery Ecosystem Plan (FEP) in the U.S. Caribbean. Drs. Juan J. Cruz-Motta, University of Puerto Rico- Mayaguez, Stacey Williams, Institute for Socio-ecological Research, and Tarsila Seara, University of New Haven, shared an overview of their work to date, preliminary results, and insight into stakeholder perceptions of key ecosystem components.
This research team is working with the Caribbean Fishery Management Council (CFMC) and stakeholders to build conceptual and quantitative models that can be used to estimate indicators of ecosystem health under different conditions (e.g., threats, impacts, and human activities).
